Singapore Flyer Strands 173 People for Six Hours, Makes Me Reconsider Riding It

In Singapore, the world's largest Ferris Wheel named the Flyer. The view from the Singapore Flyer, which measures 492 feet tall, is supposed to be astounding, But after fires broke out in the control room, it left 173 people were stranded for six hours last night...The 173 people had to be rappelled down from the capsules, starting from those closest to the bottom. Those who had to wait the longest for rescue efforts were given food, water and methods of relieving themselves. According to commenters at the Straits Times, those at the top received virtually nothing—since it was much harder to communicate with ground crews from about 42-stories up.This isn't even the first time the Flyer's broken down since it's grand opening eight months ago. It stopped thanks to a braking system malfunction in July, and got stuck earlier this month for five hours (on Dec. 4) due to bad weather.

So think twice before riding the world largest Erris Wheel.

Pretty cool Iphone games.

IPhone is getting alot of games lately....most of them are crap. But there are some great games as well. My latest games on my Iphone are Crystal Defenders, Sim City, and Katamari. Sim City is great fun, but loading is really slow at times(4 mins). Katamari was surprisingly great fun on the iphone, using iphone tilt function. Crystal Defenders is fun, but controls are kinda poorly done.

Latest FF13 scans.

A Japanese magazine scrounged some new screens of Final Fantasy XIII. There are a few details about the game we have been able to decipher despite knowning no Japanese. There appears to be a very prominent red-headed female character that is reminiscent of Rikku from Final Fantasy X. The gameplay screens are hard to decode, as the menu system looks a bit different and disjointed by comparison to previous FF games. Also, FFXIII appears to stay the course set by FFXII by showing enemies on the field rather than throwing players into random battles.

New, In-Game Killzone 2 Screens

Gotta hand it to Guerilla/Sony. After years worth of bruhaha over "target renders" and "screenshots", the past few months they've been brutally honest with their Killzone 2 media.

These screens continue that trend. While you're wondering why they're not as impressive as you'd think, instead consider that this is what video games actually look like when you play them on your TV.

Christmas For Payatas

In the landfill of Payatas, the smoking dump site has grown to become a stark and heart-tugging reminder of the desperate conditions of humanity. Everyday adults and children as young as 4 years old are forced to pick through newly arrived garbage to collect material to sell. Which at the end of the day, material sold off are still not enough to even buy food for the day.

On 10 July 2000, after a period of heavy rain, a trashslide occurred in the Payatas dump claiming over 200 lives, including many children. The tragic victims were the scavengers and sorters at the dump site and those living in the nearby shanties. While the authorities instituted better management of the site after the tragedy, many continue to depend on scavenging as it is their only means of livelihood.

Organisations such as The Lighthouse Center For Children Foundation, run by Judge Lorenzo B. Veneracion who operate a much-needed charity project to alleviate the sufferings and to help reduce their dependence on scavenging as a livelihood.

So please visit Christmas For Payatas and give some donations to those people and young children living at Payatas.

Little Big Planet coming to PSP??

EGM's head of rumor mongering Quartermann wrote,

The LBP universe will also continue to evolve next year with the release of the PSP version: Q-Mann hears it’s fantastically ambitious and will further flesh out the PS3 LBP experience.

There are no actual facts about the game, but it would be difficult to imagine using the PSP to do any serious level editing. Interestingly, Media Molecule are apparently not involved in the port and are said to be considering new project - including a possible online RPG.

Save Money, Now!

Saving money is one of those tasks that's so much easier said than done. There are a few things can be done to cut spending. First, avoid banking fee. Banks are regularly changing their products and you may be paying a monthly fee without thinking twice about it. On top of monthly fees for accounts, watch out for fees associated with overdraft protection, paper statements or excessive transactions.

Next is Pay your bills on time. his may seem like common sense, but it is easy to forget a bill and end up with a late fee. These fees can be substantial, ranging anywhere from a few dollars to $40 or more. If you have trouble keeping track of due dates, check into automatic electronic payment plans that might be available.

Third, Trim your subscriptions. These subscriptions can slowly drain hundreds of dollars from your wallet every year. Individually, they don’t seem very costly. But over time, many of these underused subscriptions are costing a lot of money. Evaluate what you really use and don’t use and get rid of the wasteful subscriptions.

Lastly, keep eating out a minimal. Eating out can be costly, and for many busy professionals it is almost a necessity.Try to cut back on buying lunch out by bringing a lunch just two days a week to start. Even this can save a few hundred dollars a year.

Also you can save money by visiting eyeglasses website. sells Stylish Prescription Glasses Online from $8. You will find a huge selection of frames, with single vision lens, sunsensor (potochromic) lens, tinted sunglasses lens, bifocal lens and progressive lens. The Secret to Low Prices is that we sell only our own manufactured frames direct to the customer, with no middlemen and virtually no advertising budget.

Mirror's Edge Runners Story Trailer

Mirror's Edge is an upcoming first person action-adventure video game being developed by EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE), due for world-wide release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November 2008, and Windows-based PCs on November 13, 2008.

The game was announced on July 10, 2007 and will be powered by the Unreal Engine 3 with the addition of a new lighting solution, developed by DICE. The game has a realistic, brightly-colored style and differs from most other first-person perspective video games in allowing for a wider range of actions—such as sliding under barriers, tumbling, wall-running, and shimmying across ledges—and greater freedom of movement, in having no HUD, and in allowing the legs, arms, and torso of the character to be visible on-screen.

I played the demo on my PS3, and really enjoyed it. I also like the graphics of this game. It is so clean and colors are vibrant. The gameplay is unique, because it trys to be a FPS platformer. I will be looking out for this game once it is release.

NDS vs. NDS lite vs. NDSi

In term of screen, from these pictures above, u can see that the NDSi has a brighter and more vibrant colors. Screen is also a little bigger.

In terms of size, there isn't much difference between the DS Lite and the DSi, but when you compare weight, the DSi is a considerable amount lighter than the Lite. For those of you who own a PS3, the difference is basically like the difference in holding a SixAxis and a Dual Shock 3. Speaking of controls, the DSi's D-Pad is considerably better than the Lite's.

The DSi now allows for downloadable software, includes 2 cameras for taking pictures, and allows for saving of voice recordings using the system's mic. All of the above can be saved to the DSi's internal memory or SD via the new port.

One of the biggest changes to the DSi is the inclusion of two low res cameras. These cameras have provided for quite a bit of confusion since the system was announced, so let us clear the air.

1. Both cameras are low res.
2. They are low res so they can easily be used in applications.
3. There is no flash on either camera, but there is compensation for darkness, much like any medium quality web cam. This also means that the video feed gets choppier and is more susceptible to blur in low light situations.
